dolphanatic22 0 Posted February 4, 2009 I keep reading about surgery being cancelled due to a fatty liver. How do they check that? I am going in for surgery Feb 5th and am curious. Thanks for the help!
KyBandChick 3 Posted February 4, 2009 You can't check for a fatty liver. They get you into surgery and once they are in they determine they can't move your liver to get to your stomach to place your band. My doctor described your liver as being the size of 2 footballs and you need the pre op diet to shrink your liver so laproscopically they can lift your liver out of the way and get to your stomach. I too was worried about fatty liver since I had read about it on this site so much. My doctor told me as long as you followed the diet as directed you will be fine and I was. dolphanatic22 0 Posted February 4, 2009 Thanks for the help! I have followed the pre-op diet close except I have allowed myself the occasional extra veggie.
