janakisses 0 Posted February 4, 2009 (edited) I just wanted to thank everyone here who takes the time to post, you have helped ease the apprehension I suffered this morning. I went in at 9:45 a.m., 45 minutes earlier than scheduled, but they found a hiated hernia (sp?) and had to repair it. I was leaving to go home by 4:15 p.m. and even refused the pain meds (Loritab) and just took some liquid Tylenol when I got home. I have had bad experiences with the anethesia and the doctor spent a lot of time with me before hand and I came up just fine for the first time ever! I am sore and only a little pain in my shoulder. I had my lip balm (thank you for the recommendation!), but it was rough with no liquids that long. I thought I hated apple juice, but tonight it is the nectar of the Gods! I wanted to post this to for people who have not been banded and may be as nervous/terrifed as I was. I did great, so will you! janakisses 0 Posted February 4, 2009 I am back to update today. The night was a little rough...up every 2 hours to the bathroom and my shoulder started aching worse when I laid flat in the bed. My fur-baby Toby did not help matters when he started walking across me for some attention either. Hubby had to help me in and out of the bed, it's pretty tall and the flexing of my stomach muscles to sit up was a bit much. I took another dose of the pain meds about 3 am and am up and around this morning. All in all, I am a little sorer today than I was yesterday, but it was expected. Carolina Mom 0 Posted February 5, 2009 Have you tried the Gas X strips for the shoulder pain. They helped me alot. Moving around also helps. But you need to rest some too. Good luck. I am just one week out now. Still alittle sore at my port site. But much better.

kpdgal 0 Posted February 5, 2009 Good luck on your journey! I hope you post often, it's re-assuring to see someone going through the process from day one and is willing to share the every day stuff with us unbanded folks. Helps to know what to expect and how you made it through.
janakisses 0 Posted February 5, 2009 (edited) Day 3 check in! I was only up once during the night last night, but did take more pain meds yesterday than I did that first night, so slept pretty good. My incision sites are pretty sore today and my stomach is making funny noises. I have the most horrible gas, but it hurts to push it out...probably too much info...:bananalama: I have been up for 4 hours and have not had to take any Tylenol or pain meds so far, just taking it easy in the recliner. I am finding that I have to force myself to drink and eat though and not even hungry. I have a tiny Synthroid pill that I have to take daily, and I think I am going to move it to before I go to bed....I have had an uncomfortable feeling of pressure after taking it the past 2 mornings. I am going to try to walk for a few minutes at a slow pace on the treadmill today and I get to take a shower and remove my bandaids (just leave the steri-strips on), wish me luck! kpdgal 0 Posted February 5, 2009 Make sure to take gas-x, that will relieve alot of that pressure for you, and rest some, but most said walking around helped them the most...! I hope you have a good rest and report back tomorrow!
