Atkins is a long term diet that includes an induction phase, and so on...

I followed a diet prescribed by my surgeon. It was low carb low fat, it was not Atkins. Some surgeons may prescribe the induction phase of Atkins...? but your doctor will direct you.

My pre-op diet was 2 Atkins Advantage shakes a day - one for Breakfast and one for lunch. I got to have lean meat and veggies for dinner. I like the shakes - as a matter of fact, I have to have one for breakfast every day, and will ...... probably forever. They don't taste bad to me and they keep me pretty full until lunchtime. Good luck to you!!! Take care. Becky

My liquid pre-op diet was up to 6 Atkins shakes per day. Plus lots of Water. Everyone's diet is different so follow your doctors orders. But, if it's similar to this, just space out your drinks throughout the day.

I like the shakes and still drink them for breakfast most mornings. I tend to be tight in the mornings and I just don't have time to sit down and take the necessary time for breakfast. They are convenient and they taste surprisingly good!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
