I was never a soda person but the thought of not being able to tolerate bread scares me 8X LOL but think of how much better being heathier and looking better will be than soda or bread  LOL I wish I could keep up with my friends when they go running off way more than ever eating a sandwich again. Good luck

Thats because bread is awesome... when I am not on the scale atlease :( I am sorta in the same place as you on our journey except you are going to beat me because my insurance requires a six month dr monitored diet. I think it is normal to be nervous but I have yet to find anyone of the banders that are at goal saying that they would take back the weight even for a sandwich, soda, and all you can eat candy bar LOL we can do this :( Feel free to PM so we can support each other through this

Believe me I am the junk food king! But I knew that if I didn't make a change then I would probably get bigger and bigger. I have been banded for a year and 3 months. It is challenging at times but once in a while I can eat junk food but just not splurging like I used too. You just can't. Sometimes you miss it because you see your friends take huge bites out of hamburgers or pizza. You will never be able to do that again. For me it was emotional because I missed being able to do those things. It's okay once in a while to eat junk food but if you can't see yourself accepting moderation well I would re consider this surgery.

ah I feel for you with the diet cola addiction. You won't miss it to be honest. You won't miss the bread either. You'll not be able to eat much more than broth/water/jello first week after surgery. After that, it's all uphill from there... you focus on what you can eat rather than what you can. Unless your a glass half empty kinda person. So try not to be that guy.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
