Blending tool

Recommended Posts

I am one doctors appointment from submitting all the required information to the insurance company, and I am thinking ahead to the mushies stage and was wanting to get your feedback.

I have a blender but it's loud and a bit of an overkill to use for small amounts not to mention annoying to clean.

So I am hoping for some feedback on immersion(stick) blenders or something like the magic bullet but I heard it was just as loud as a blender.

Call me strange, but I have a thing for noise pollution.

Thanks in advance

Julie

I bought a small 2 cup food processor from penny's. It makes noise but it's very fast. And it doesn't "whine" like my blender does. You might want to check it out?

Ditto to the two cup food processor suggestion. I have one, purchased from Lowe's several years ago at the time I remember thinking it would be a handy thing to have and they were on sale for less than $10.00.

I also have a Cuisinart food Processor and a Vita-Mixer. The Vita-Mixer was a hand me down from my Mother who bought it about 20 years ago. She wasn't using it too much, and thought I would like it so she offered it to me. It makes awesome Protein shakes. Still works great after 20 years of use.

Though I love my Cuisinart and use it frequently, I think we use the small food processor most frequently of all because it is quick and easy to use and clean. It makes great mushy food.

My husband bought a magic bullet to make Protein shakes at work. He hasn't metioned it is too loud but I get the impression it doesn't get used as often as the shaker cup he bought at GNC.

Good luck!

I have a magic bullet and it works great. There's always some noise with these appliances. I use my mb everyday for my shakes and smoothies.< /p>

I got the immersion mixer and love it. I used it 3 times a day post op, making my Protein Drinks into shakes, crushing up veggies in Soup to give it a little body. But it does have some noise. Not like my big blender, but more than the magic bullet.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
