Lets talk about Bidets!

Recommended Posts

Until recently I never realized how useful a bidet could be! I was afraid of them before but after researching some of them I realize how much easier it would make life..

Do you have a bidet? Do you have one you recommend? I am just starting the adventure of researching which one to get and what I should look for in one.

If only I could of had one for post surgery I would of been in heaven. Hmm or presurgery since I was too heavy to twist that far. I have read other threads where people actually had to purchase tongs to do their business after surgery since were rendered immobile.

This is the site I have been using so far. Awaiting suggestions

I am interested in learning more about this as well. I have used them in Europe and the Middle East . . . but never here in the states. I think it would be a wonderful thing to have.

It's pretty cool that they dont have to be stand alones... they can be on your toilet.

I've been using a bidet type cleaner installed on my toilet for years because I couldn't reach back there too well. Its called Magic Faucet Bidet and I am very happy with it. (www.magicfaucetbidet.com)

The only downside is the Water comes straight from the same Water that fills your toilet tank, so its cold. Brrrrr!!! But I got used to it. It sells for about 100.00 at Home Depot as opposed to a separate bidet installed which could run 1,000 or more including the plumbing and work that has to be done to your bathroom to make room for it. Won't it be so nice when we lose all our weight and can reach back there without problems?? Its one of my wishes. LOL.

They are marvelous. My French grandma had one in her house. I wish they were more common in the states. I've stayed in a few hotels that had them, but that's about it. why the aversion to them here? I never have figured that out.

I had to laugh.... I went to Greece as a foreign exchange student back in high school (1976). I was familiar with a bidet due to grandma. The family I stayed with had one in their bathroom next to the tub. Upon arriving, they handed me a towel and tried to explain the use of the bidet. I knew what it was for, so I used it. It wasn't until several weeks later that I realized what THEY used it for. Before bedtime, I noticed that they all lined up for turns in the single bathroom. No worry, until one evening the two younger children were arguing in the bathroom. Mom went to the rescue and both children were sitting on the side of the tub dutifully washing their feet in the bidet before bed. After further inquiry, I realized the entire family did this every night. It had NEVER been used for it's original intent. I was dumbfounded. Needless to say, if I had any desire to use it after that, it was sanitized first..... LOL As a side note, this same family had a huge "hukah" or brass hash pipe in their living room. Imagine my shock? when I inquired about this, the response was that it was an antique that the Turks used for making "tea". They also confiscated all my tampons. They were considered sinful, and according to the local pharmacist also a slow method of "sterilization" for females..... I now knew the meaning of culture shock.

I went to Greece. I was on the island of Crete. Hopefully, things have modernized a bit, and the country folk are better informed!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
