You are doing great Haley!!!!

Ahhh yes, the feeling of baggy jeans is great...but wait until you feel the feeling of jeans that are a size or two smaller than those baggy jeans!!!!

I started in a size 18 went to my "skinny jeans" packed away in my closet (size 16's) after a couple months. Wore those until they got too big then went out to buy new ones. I grabbed 14's and they fit with some room so I decided to see if I could get into 12's and I did!!!! I danced around the fitting room in glee!

As you keep losing weight you'll find that feeling doesn't go away either. I am currently in a size 8 and when I got two pair in this size they fit like a glove, not too tight but close... I decided at that point that I would be happy if I didn't lose another pound. But those size 8's are getting a little loose in the back end and the feeling is just as good as it was in the beginning. I used to hate shopping for clothes but now I love it!!! (Is that a good thing or bad???)

Jodi, I couldn't have said it better myself. I see you and I are very close the same size. I tried on a pair of 6's this weekend. They were tight, but I got them on. I didn't buy them as I'd like to lose 5 more pounds before trying them again, but it is so exciting. The other day I was wearing a pair of pants that were so baggy that I thought I had picked up the wrong pair and double checked the tag.

Suzanne,

We are pretty close on all our stats!

I am still wearing some baggy size 10's to work and have some size 8's that have a little room but still fit OK and I am hoping to be able to hold out until I lose the last 17 pounds before I buy any more new clothes.

My mom has told me once again that I need to put on a belt or get smaller jeans. I do wear a belt, but I cannot afford to buy jeans at every size as I lose weight. She does wait a while to mention it though, so maybe it's time to buy a smaller size.

It is so exciting. I was starting to look very sloppy in my size 22 work pants. I went shopping this weekend and bought size 16 pants! It is so exciting! I didn't even think I could wear them. I was just trying them on to see how far I had to go to fit them. They are actually a little big! This is such as exciting time in our lives. It makes it all worth while when you start to see results.

blaze, i totally relate to the money issue. it's a concern for me too (after i'm banded). i love clothes, but since i can't afford to indulge all that often I like to check out consignment stores. there are some suprisingly good quality clothes at decent prices. you need to shop around at first, and get to know your city's consignment shops. some are really bad or expensive, and some are just fabulous.

22 years for me :(!

Believe me, eight months ago I couldn't have imagined it myself. I have been heavy my entire life so I had never been in a size 8 or a size 10 for that matter. Thanks for the congrats...It will happen for you.

The last "regular" size clothes I can remember being in was when I was aged 14, I was wearing a 12/14. I was so thrilled the other week when I could buy a XL sweater in the "regular" department.

That's a good idea. I will look for some in my area. Also my support group has a clothing exchange, I'll look into that as well.

Thanks!

It really is a great way to get clothes especially when you are still losing. I am currently wearing a great pair of Ralph Lauren jeans in perfect condition that I got at Goodwill for $8.00 and my favorite pair are a perfect fitting pair of Gloria Vanderbilt jeans that I got at Salvation Army for $6.00...the high end ones not the cheap thin version that stretch out of shape by the end of the day. I don't feel so sad when I have to donate these second-hand clothes...there has been a time or two where I paid good money for clothes and only wore them a couple times before I had to give them up.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
