Lap band surgery complications

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I had my surgery a year ago now and i've had nothing but problems.

I awoke from surgery and had a really bad pain under my left rib, which is still constant till this day. I told my surgeon about it and he said its nothing to do with the surgery which is bullsh!t.:cheated::tt1::thumbup::tongue2:

I can't eat anything solid, so i have no weight loss due to eating foods that slide through the band.

Im very depressed and worse than i was b4 the surgery.

Anyone else have the same problems?

Oh and has anyone had theirs removed and got gastric bypass ??

Im thinking about heting it done.

Cheers all!

How about trying to find another doctor?...sounds like this one is not offering you any support. Something is definitely wrong if you have had severe pain for a year and have not been able to eat solids for that amount of time.

I am having incredible post op problems angel, if you'd like to talk, email me.

I have also been told this pain may be a 'coincidence' and that was very frustrating...

Keep in touch.

I'm in agreement with the previous poster who suggested seeing another dr.

These Doctors will NOT admit that THEY have made a mistake. You need to find someone who will give you an unbiased evaluation, and help provide a solution.

If you have continuing pain post-surgery, pain that was NOT there prior to the operation....well, it doesn't take a whole lot of brains to figure out that there's a connection. The dr is B.S.ing you.

I had horiffic complications, which required multiple surgeries, and ultimatley, the removal of my band.

Please PM me if you like, I HATE it when these Drs are unresponsive to the legitimate complaints of their patients.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
