Nutri System Diet?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm waiting for insurance approval and am feeling very impatient at this point.

I'm thinking of going on the Nutri system diet until I get a banding date because I am feeling so motivated and don't want to lose this motivation feeling (If you know what I mean).

I've known I wanted banding back in January and it's taken so much time to get this far. Did anyone eles feel this way?

I think we all felt that way at some point. But tons of us already tried Nutrisystem and many other expensive and useless diets. Save your money and be patient. Just my opinion.

I agree that you should save your money, but you don't have to lose that motivation! Use this time to practice eating like a bandster, small portions and chew chew chew. You can lose weight that way even if you don't have the band to help you. It just won't be easy, so you'll need all the motivation you can muster. Good luck!!

Not only did I lose weight on the Nutri system, but I also lost my gall bladder!

Be patient, practice the Bandster way, and save your money.

Thank you for the comments I think that I will try a bandsters diet for a while and see if I can tolerate eating so little, (at least while I wait for the real deal).

Try a low carb diet. When I was first diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, I went on a 10 carb a day diet. (Per a registered dietician.) I lost 24 lbs and have kept it off since then. I also switched from regular to diet pop, drank sugar free koolaid, crystal light and ate sugar free and lowfat items. I had to wait a whole year before I was banded because DH's insurance considered it a pre-existing and would not cover it till we were married a year. It will happen for you, but I wouldn't waste money on high price FAD diets they aren't worth it.

I agree with the others, start the bandster mentality start taking smaller bites, chewing chewing chewing and not drinking with your meals and waiting an hour after to drink, Protein first, veggies , fruits then carbs, I you can do well with all of this it will benefit you greatly after you have your band

I did the Nutri-System thing in the 1980's!!! Yes, I lost weight, but the minute you stop eating their food....hello pounds again. They do not teach you how to eat for the rest of your life. I remember the diet being not too bad, but my mom (I was still living at home) said I was a raving bitch while on Nutri-Systems!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
