So far, so good. Very little pain, unless I overdo. Don't seem to be having any trouble with liquids except the protien shakes...YUCK!!! My only complaint is a constant gassy feeling like I need to burp but can't. At first I thought it was from the surgery but that seems to have disappeared. I'm eating very slowly and stopping before a "full" feeling. I have been walking after eating as well. I've tried the Gas-X strips without success. Any suggestions would be so appreciated! :tongue2:

Are you sure you're supposed to be eating? For most of us we have liquids or (clear, full, or a combo) for at least the first two weeks.

My Dr. told me anything that will flow through a straw. I have been blending cream Soups and thinning with milk, or blending smoothies with Protein Powder, for a couple of examples. I'm only eating from the list he gave me for the first three weeks. Does this not sound right??

As long as you are doing what your doctor tells you I'm sure you'll be fine. I just got confused, I think, by the word "eating" since I relate that to chewing. Otherwise, I think of it as 'drinking" LOL

Your feeling is probably trapped gas leftover from the surgery and if so no, Gas X won't impact it. Walking, slowly sipping your foods, following your doc's post op rules should help but if you are worried about it, call your doctor tomorrow.

Sorry for the confusion...liquids are my "eating" right now. I have my first follow-up visit tomorrow, so I'll check with him. I really think it is trying to program myself to sip, not gulp. Since I'm concentrating on it so much, I think I somehow make myself swallow air. But keeping my chin up and know this will "pass." Thanks!

It's fine if you want to call it eating; to you, right now, it is! Some posters "advance" the post op diet and eat solids too early, I think maybe because they don't realize how important it is to stick to it. I just assumed you might be eating solids; no biggie!

I could "swallow" post op just fine, never needed to sip; but we are all different so call your doctor tomorrow if you think you should. That is always a good thing if you are in doubt!

Are you sure you are suppose to have Protein shakes during the post-op liquid diet? Just double checking. :cheated: Perhaps your doctor allows that. During the clear liquid phase, I could have just that; anything I could see clear through. So my doctor allowed Isopure Protein drinks, which are clear liquid.

Good luck!

My doc considered the clear liquid phase to be the first day or two. Because of my insurance I had to stay the night in the hosp. They could not release me the next day until I showed I could handle thick liquids. I am supposed to have a 4 oz Zero Carb Isopure shake in between each meal that he is considering part of my liquid intake, not meals. For meals, from two days to three weeks, he has me on thick liquids, anything that will flow through a straw. So it sounds like each Dr can really vary on their guidelines??

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
