Hi all

I have been approved for the lap band surgery. Just waiting for the date. I am wondering how you to get 60 grams of Protein a day after surgery. It seems it will be hard.

I like meat and cheese and have no problems. However there are many supplements on the market; you can find one you like and use it if you're afraid you won't get it in by diet alone.

CONGRATS ON YOUR APPROVAL!!:tongue2:

I keep a box of Kellogg's Special K2O Iced Tea Protein Water Mix in my office and add them to my water all day. I pick these up at Walmart.< /span>

Good Luck to you!

I use "Body Fortress"from Wal-Mart twice a day.It gives me 52 grams plus it taken with skim milk that gives an additional 18grams.

During the liquid phase post op I used New whey Protein bullets. They are only 3 oz each and have 42g of Protein. It is really easy to drink.

Now, I just eat enough protein each day; chicken, turkey, beef, Beans or drink skim milk.

During the liquid post-op diet phase, I drank NewWhey Bullets and Isopure, which my doctor said was okay for me.

Now, I eat meat and cheese, my to faves. Plus, I have other stuff, like chilli, eggs, milk, and Isopure and/or NewWhey bullets. I exercise like crazy, so I make sure to get over 100 grams in a day.

I have to have 60 grams a day and it isn't that hard to get in. I have to have a Protein (Atkins) shake for Breakfast every day and then I usually get the rest in my other 2 meals. If I find that I'm short at night, I put a scoop of unflavored whey Protein Powder (21 grams - GNC) in a yogurt and that puts me over. Like you, I thought it would be hard to do.... but it really isn't. Good luck to you. Becky

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
