dld512 0 Posted January 31, 2009 I have always been complimented on my super white teeth. I was banded on 1/05/09 and about a week out I started noticing my teeth looking a little yellow. They are definetly more yellow than before surgery. Has this happened to anyone? My post op diet includes sugar free carnation instant Breakfast...I was thinking it could be from that????? My mouth always feels gross after I drink that stuff. Ps. It is def not something others notice...but I sure do.
ashleysara 0 Posted January 31, 2009 Huh, Ive never heard that... perhaps you should ask your doctor or dentist?
spud.mama 7 Posted January 31, 2009 I know, of course, that pop and coffee do, but I believe sugar and nutrasweet do also. did you change toothpaste??
ssdown 0 Posted January 31, 2009 I am a dental hygienist. If you think your teeth have become yellow since your surgery, it would probably be from the food and/or drinks your are having and not from the surgery itself. When is the last time you had a prophy? If you have the whitening trays see if you can purcase more bleaching formula from your dentist. If not, get some white strips or another bleaching system from the pharmacy. SS
dld512 0 Posted January 31, 2009 I didn't think the surgery itself changed my teeth! lol!!! I figured it was something I was drinking or eating. I don't know what prophy means? If it means a cleaning I had a dentist appt a month before surgery. I wonder if it is artificial sweetener related. I used to only use that in my coffee before surgery. I think it was in just about everything I was drinking post op. The strange thing is I haven't been drinking coffee at all since surgery. Thanks so much everyone....I am gonna try white strips. speck 1 Posted February 2, 2009 I remember my dr. telling me that Iron chewables can do that. Not sure if you are taking that or not or any other chewables.
Brandy~ 2 Posted February 2, 2009 This happened to me. I have WHITE teeth and never had to bleach them. Its gone now and they returned to white. I am sure it's the food we were/are eating. I think once you're back to a regular diet you will notice them return. I was mortified because the one thing on me that I was super proud of was those pearly white teeth :w00t: You'll get them back. JuneAct2 0 Posted February 3, 2009 Now that you mentioned it, I noticed mine turning as well. Maybe it's from all the "chocolate" Protein Drinks. I still drink the Atkins RTD shakes for Breakfast, and my favorite ones are made with "real coffee". Guess it's time to get out the Crest White strips again!
