Assuming no complications and assuming i dont have to be cut open... how soon can I go back to work?

Let me clarify...I work from home, on a laptop from my Sofa (I wonder if this has something to do with my Phattyness haha).

My plan is get surgury on a weds, then start working from the sofa or even bed by Monday.

Am I being realistic?

If that is the case then you will be able to work the day after your surgury. You will already be on the couch or bed so when you get tried then all you have to do is take a nap!

If you have the freedom to rest when and if you need to, then you should definitely be able to work by Monday.

I worked from my laptop in bed for over 6 hours the day after surgery with no problems!

I believe in this situation, baring no complications, you are being very realistic. You have no commute. And you can work from bed. How cool is that.

Congrats and good luck!

I came back to work the next day, worked two half days, and was back at full speed on Monday (granted I work at a desk, and the office is not busy, and I was in P.J.'s (but the boss was gone)

So I would Yes, I think you are being realistic.

Good Luck and congratulations!

As long as you don't need the prescription pain meds, then yes you're realistic. But you don't want to do any kind of work (unless you're a rock star on tour LOL) while taking opiods. So it will depend on your pain level and if extra strength tylenol, or taking nothing, controls it.

I had very little pain and was good by day 3 for what you describe, but we're all very individual about our pain threshholds and experiences.

Not cut open? You are cut in several small areas and a longer incision where the port it abut 4 inches or so. I would take a week off and use that to recuperate. Some may only need a few days. With me a week was good.

i decided I'm going to take 3 planned days..surgery day then 2 more. If something weird happens or I require more pain meds than anticipated then I'll deal with that. Thanks for all the replies..so far i am optimistic about everything except approval from insurance.

Your plan should work out just fine. I had surgery on Tuesday at 7:00 a.m. and went home that evening around 7:00 p.m. I ended up with that severe pain in my left shoulder from the gas they pump into the abdomen so that set me back a few days. I had never heard of that happening. I asked the surgeon if they had dropped me or something to cause me to have such pain. He said "Oh no, did you end up with that should issue"? Then he explained that sometimes the gas they use to inflate the abdomen does not dissipate as it's supposed to. It ends up in the shoulder joint area and causes it to lock up. Very painful!

I did return to work on Monday but only made it until 1:30 then I needed a nap. Same thing on Tuesday but as of Wednesday, I could do the entire day.

I am now two weeks and three days post surgery and all is well. I had my first follow up appointment with the surgeon and he is pleased with my progress. I think that if I hadn't had the shoulder issue I would have been back to work full speed right away. This is the first surgery (out of four in the past two years) in which I actually used the prescribed pain meds. That shocked me but that shoulder joint hurt so badly that I needed the additional meds.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
