I went directly from Dr. office (my stomach was growling during exam) to Taco Bell for pintos and cheese on my Dr.'s advise. Yummo!! I only was able to eat half, seemed like the best Beans ever.

I am with you on this one! I too, consumed the Taco Bell pintos and cheese. They are quite tasty. Now, I keep the cans of Taco Bell refried Beans at home and eat it at least twice a week, but only 1/2c at a time!!!!! I also add some ff sour cream to it. Yummy!

I was scared too! I started off with home-made turkey chilli Beans with cheese. I ate slowly and chewed my food like crazy. I watched for any signs of food and band issues and thus far I have had none.

I can eat small quanitities of the food I ate pre-band. Just take it slow and chew your food really well.

Good luck!

I have been on soft/mushies for 2 weeks. It is time for me to start solids. I have done the eggs and Beans. What is a good solid food to eat?

Try anything you want that isn't likely to cause problems. I began eating whatever my family ate for dinner, I just ate less and chewed it well. I stayed away from bread and steak, other than that, I tried whatever I wanted. If I chewed well and the first bite felt stuck at all, I stopped and ate something different.

I think I ate spaghetti (1/2 c with whole wheat pasta) and fried fish (1 small fillet) right after starting solids.

Thanks, so much. I am suppose to start solids Monday am, but because of Super Bowl Sunday I was planning on eating Sunday night. I was going to go with Turkey Chili. Do you think raw veggies with lo cal dip would be okay?

Turkey chili should be fine. Be careful about the raw veggies if you have any restriction at all. Quite often they stick, so take it slow and be careful.

I started out with chicken in a can with light mayo and crackers and chewed so well! After that my confidence in solids went up. My famliy was having spaghetti for dinner that night and I cut the noodles in tiny pieces and chewed that well.

I started with chicken and Fish. I also had little of Pasta and rice. Just make sure you chew chew chew and chew if you are worried. That is what I am doing. I have not tried Pork Chops or hard Veg's yet. I am still worried on them. bread and Steak's I think I am going to wait on them for a few more weeks.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
