BethFromVA 5 Posted March 10, 2009 Anybody want to put money on whether Nadya's mother's divorce was influenced by Nadya's "activities"? And I get a little tired of people trashing Dr. Phil. He doesn't force anyone to come on that show. And he puts them through at least one interview before the show. They know what is going to happen before they ever walk on that set. Dr. Phil is a very straightforward guy. He tells it like it is. He does more for people through his show than most psychologists do in months or even years of counseling. Yeah, they are put in an uncomfortable position when he points out what their behavior is all about. But the reason so many people with problems agree to go on there is because he gets the job done. I think that few of us and very few psychologists are equipped with the brain power to cut to the chase like he does. I agree that he can be very abrasive, but what's more important figuring out what's wrong and how to fix it, or skirting the issues and being gratuitous and patronizing? Because people today just want to hear good stuff. To hit them with facts is akin to "being mean" or "intolerant." That is why we are the way we are these days. Nobody can stand to hear the truth. BJean 16 Posted March 10, 2009 I think you're right on too, Beth! And everybody wants to blame everyone else for their problems. Maybe it's because we've become such a litigious society that everyone is afraid to take responsibility for their own actions these days. Don't know what caused it, but it sure has gotten out of hand.
kiz 1 Posted March 10, 2009 I feel for the poor neighbors who live in the quiet neighborhood where Nadya is relocating. A neighbor was interviewed this this morning, and he didn't seem at all happy with this prospect. Having 14 kids next door, 8 the same age, and the other six all under 8 is the stuff of nightmares, especially having read that the kids are not the best behaved. Kat817 19 Posted March 10, 2009 I complain because my neighbor has 8 cats!!! LOL I never meant to say Dr. Phil doesn't call 'em like he sees 'em. But we will just have to agree to disagree on him....I find him extremely condescending. Kind of like some of the judge shows on TV--like his mind is made up his way, and there is no other option. Now I did not know he had pre show interviews, so that makes more sense, he has already made up his mind, and possibly with reason. I still think for him to act like her selling the babies pics etc. is wrong, then to go around promoting HIS shows with her and clips from the kids etc. But I will admit, I might be coming at it from a distorted angle with my view of him, since it was not formed from this case, I felt this way prior!!!! BJean 16 Posted March 10, 2009 I totally understand your viewpoint, Kat! I agree that he very often does sound condescending. As I get older, I've found that I prefer honesty to people trying to sugarcoat everything. I happen to agree with his assessment of people and relationships fairly often so it isn't too surprising that he doesn't get under my skin that much. Besides, to tell the truth he played football for Tulsa U. and I'm from the Tulsa area so I admit that I cut him some slack on that basis alone. Seriously though I do think that watching someone be so brutally honest with people can be a good thing for us to see these days. (If we can get over our anger at the messinger.) BethFromVA 5 Posted March 10, 2009 Apparently Angela Suleman has been footing much of the cost of Nadya's odd lifestyle. For instance the home Nadya lives in belongs to her mother. It's a modest three bedroom home located in Whitter, California. Nadya and her brood live there rent and bill free courtesy of her mother. Mom continues to foot the bills because a petulant Nadya threatens to cut her off from seeing her grandchildren unless she makes with the loot! Octomom - a method to her madness?? - Nadya Suleman - Zimbio She doesn't pay for squat except probably her manicures and little shopping sprees. Where are the student loans going? She certainly isn't going to school...
Kat817 19 Posted March 10, 2009 That I think is an excellent question since she commented several times on her student loans, and getting her education so she can be gainfully employed. It is one of the biggies that I think needs looked into---where the student loan money has went, and to be sure it cannot be bankrupted in the future--if they can be...I do not know much about them to be honest. But enough to be of the thought that if it is a student loan....it should be for a student in school, and used for school related items--tuition, books, etc. I had an employee who worked for me part time, and went to school, she made several thousand more than needed on her school GRANTS! Not money she ever had to pay back. She bought new leather furniture with the excess the year she worked for me, irritated the crap outta me and I told her so! LOL
BethFromVA 5 Posted March 10, 2009 At the very least, it's fraud. If she's collecting loans for school she's not attending, then I'd say she has broken the law. If hers isn't a case that needs investigating from many different angles, I don't know whose does.

kiz 1 Posted March 10, 2009 The student loan angle is interesting little side note on the whole sordid saga. I believe these loans subsidized at a lower than normal rate to help students pay their tuition. I would think that once a student leaves school, they'd be required to start repayment within a stipulated period of time.
BJean 16 Posted March 11, 2009 I wasn't paying close attention when she was on Dr. Phil's show, but I thought I heard her mention that she was using her student loan to live on and when Dr. Phil told her that she isn't supposed to be using a student loan to live on. She said oh, she didn't know that. You know she has gotten a heckofa lot of mileage out of saying she didn't know stuff. I don't think that Phil used the term fraud, but I got the impression from what he said that it could get her into trouble. At least like what someone else mentioned, I believe that they could up the interest rate and possibly demand a faster repayment schedule if she isn't using it for school. pattygreen 5 Posted March 11, 2009 Celebrity Science: Victory For Octo-Mom Her dad bought the house. This Clebrity Science article states that it will cost her $135,000. a month??!! just to have care for the 8 babies. NOT. If I hired 4 CNA's (2 babies each) at $10./hr. for 24 hours a day it would cost $29,760. per month. She doesn't need anyone to care for her first 6. She could continue to do that. How everyone OVER exagerates the expense of it is beyond me.
pattygreen 5 Posted March 11, 2009 She's got round the clock care, a home, people to help her, and the finances to do it. What's your problem now? I told you she would be rich and you all were upset that it would be on your dime. I knew it wouldn't. She can thank all of you for making her so popular and for making all of this possible, though.
