NO restriction after unfill then refill + 0.5cc's

Recommended Posts

I went into my appointment today with good restriction. I've been losing weight slowly but steadily and only wanted 0.5cc more because my band was getting really loose by dinner time.

The nurse checked my amount by unfilling, then was supposed to add 0.5cc's and put it all back in. I now have NO restriction. I just ate bread with no problem to test how loose it is and there was no feeling of restriction at all.

Does this seem like a leak? It wasn't leaking when I got to the Dr's office. The only other thing I can think of is that she just didn't put the correct amount back in (but it would have had to be WAY off to have this much change).

Any ideas? I'm freaking out.

Thanks!

Did your nurse state how much she placed back in the Band?

You know your body better than anyone else. You might want to call the nurse back and tell her your not feeling any restriction, but I would wait until Monday. And should you be eating bread right after a fill? Just curious, because my doctor has me do liquids to two days and the two days of mushies.

Anyway, I had a fill on January 14 of 1cc. I could tell no difference. Really nada! So on January 28, I called to see if they had an open spot to give me another fill. They did and I went.

When the nurse came in she thought it was doubtful the doctor would give me another fill, especially since I just had one just 2-weeks ago. We discussed my diet and food intake, but I knew something was not right.

The doctor came in and took all the fill out and she and the nurse were surprised that I lost 1cc. Yep, in two weeks time I some how lost 1cc. We are not sure where it went, and we will monitor the situation, but the point is I knew there was something wrong.

Anyway, the doctor gave me an additional 1.5cc and I now have 5.5cc and great restriction. Talk to your doctor and see what they say.

Thanks for replying. No, I definitely would never eat bread after a fill, but could tell something was wrong and was just "testing" it. I had a lot of restriction at 1 pm today, but by the time I got home around 3 pm, I had no restriction. So if I have a leak, it is brand new and leaking fast...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
