Chili & mashed potatoes. I was eating them separately, then 1 day I put a spoonful of mashed potatoes in a bowl, put another spoonful of chili on top and melted shredded cheese on top of that. It was great & soooo filling.

Mushies are foods that are soft and easy to digest like mashed potatoes, for example. So for mushies I had pureed foods. Aside from refried Beans, I put stuff in my little 2 cup food processor and pureed the, well, you know, out of it. I don't like cottage cheese and couldn't imagine living on yogurt for another week, but things that are baby-food consistency are ok for most docs.

OF COURSE.....check with what your doctor and nutritionist said and don't contradict their orders, regardless.

This is my all time favorite mushy food.

1/2 cup fat free refried Beans

Pinch of 2% cheese

spoon of tomatoe Soup to emulate taco sauce. (was afraid to do the real thing)

This would ward off hunger for me better than anything, and nutritionally its not too bad imho.

Kinda like a Pinto's and Chesse from Taco bell, only not nearly as bad for ya.

google homemade babyfood. there are some good ideas out there. and of course something like progresso pot roast Soup, stuff like that can go right into the blender.

If I remember correctly during mushies I ate:

  • refried Beans with fat free sour cream and reduced fat cheddar cheese
  • homemade chili put through a food processor and topped with ff sour cream and cheese
  • chicken salad and tuna salad made using a food processor
  • homemade Soups, yes, I put this in a processor also, but they taste better than canned
  • sf pudding, favorite is dark chocolate; this saved me; ate it every night before bed, I still do if I am hungry late at night
  • scrambled eggs

I am 1 week into mushies - for lunch I blend 1/4 cup instant mashed potato mix with 1/2 can (1 serving) of tuna, shrimp, or salmon, and a spoonful of salsa for flavor - it sounds bad but can be quite good. Also, I like the "eating right" brand of frozen "diet" dinner - one package is high in Protein and low in most else - and very tasty. I blend the whole thing in my little blender and it is the tastiest mush ever :>)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
