Suggestions Needed - Trip to the ER - Emergency Unfill

Recommended Posts

Thanks for updating us! I was getting worried. I am glad you are feeling better. Are you going to try to just stay unfilled the rest of the pregnancy?

I'm glad you got yourself unfilled, for both of your sake's. Question though...why did you go to a doctor 4 hours away? Is that the only one available in the area or just the best one with most experience?

They have a clinic a couple of times a month nearer to my home. Usually it is not a big deal because it is not that far and I schedule my fills.

This was just unusual in that I had an emergency and our weather has been absolutely awful this week . . . I got unfilled on a Thursday but if I would have done it the Tuesday 2 days before it would have been close to home. I just didn't know I was going to close up so tight. I was tight on Tuesday but by Wednesday I was having a terrible time and by Thursday I was miserable.

I chose them because I switched doctors, they are professional, I never have to wait at the appointments (20 minutes in and out if I am in a rush), they always return my phone calls and emails quickly and fills are incredibly inexpensive. It is a win-win situation 90% of the time.

Ok, I've only had the band a few days - what's a PB? My hubby's cousin has it too and she got something stuck and went to the ER. She did fine there, then unfilled her and she felt immediate relief.

A PB is a productive burp. It is when food is stuck in your pouch but not all the way in your main stomach and it comes back up again. It is not like vomiting in that it doesn't really hurt or have stomach juices involved. This only happens to banded people.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
