Jan 29 update - Valentine's Day Challenge

Hi All,

Well another crappy week and another week with no loss. You would think the fill would have worked, but only 1 lb in 3 weeks. My MD won't see me until April! I may need to call after 1 month and tell them I have not seen any loss and hope they can get me in. I know when I spoke with the MD for this fill he said that he is surprised that I needed another fill. He said that most patients are fine with just 1-2 fills and I am now looking for 3! Oh well.

I did get in 4 workouts last week, but the sweets in the office and the wine at parties were my downfall. I stopped the wine on Monday, but the sweets are still getting to me. I have thrown everything out and put a note on my door NO SWEETS ALLOWED!

Let's hope this works! Here are the latest results. I don't see everyone's number, so let me know.

Hi Gilta,

I forgot to post mine last week (sorry). I lost 5 1/2 pounds.

I don't get weighed again until Monday, nurse it out for week. So i'll send it to you then..

No change for me. In the last week, I've lost my good restriction (but that's okay because I'm getting another fill - my 5th - next Friday). I also couldn't exercise for 4 days because I hurt my foot and I also over-indulged with food and alcohol on the weekend past (it was the long Australia Day weekend).

A combination of these saw me gain weight in the early part of the week, but with exercise again, I've lost almost all of it (bar a half lb or so)

I definitely believe now that my weight loss so far can be attributed to a combination of exercise and good restriction, and the loss of one or more of those aspects seems to be detrimental to me.

Gilta, it's frustrating I know when the scales are standing still. I hope you get some movement soon (and get in to see your MD earlier than April!)

Yes - I do need to get in the gym more. I think that is part of my problem as well as the junk I am eating. This is all my fault so I have to control it.

Down again this week. I'm not going to make my goal but I think I'm okay with that.

If I work hard the next two weeks, I think I can do it! I have a fill this coming Thursday, that might give me a boost!

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
