Good food while on the run

Recommended Posts

I have a road trip coming up in a few months. This will be a big 4 day drive there and 4 days back. I will pack my own healthy foods and we will try to stop at good restaurants so I can order healthy. I just know at one time or another we will have to stop and get fast food or gas station Snacks. My question to you is what are some healthier and reasonably bandster friendly food I can order?

I know some people can and cannot handle breads and so on but I just want to know what you all think are healthier choices.

A lot of grocery stores have build your own salad bars, that is what I did went I went to Atlanta, GA. it helped greatly when I was looking for a good healthy salad with protien.

I guess I would pack a crap load of Protein bars, nuts (I love almonds) I would bring trail mix - make your own or buy it, I would grab beef Jerky if it was available and if I chewed it really well (usually at short stops and such) at fast food I would get a salad and a burger? take off the bun if you can't tolerate bread (I can't) skip the fries. And some filling Soup of if available?

Boy I am trying to think of anything else and feeling like a dork, I am sure there will be plenty of others with great advice for you!

Good luck to you!

You can pre-make wraps. That's what I have been doing on days that I have class. And you can be really creative and put whatever you want on it!

My favorite is a mexi-wrap:

whole wheat tortilla

LF CReam cheese (replaces mayo!!)

Salsa

chicken

lettuce

and sprinld some mexican cheese

Khashi makes a good high fiber/high Protein Bar. They're very filling, and 1/2 a bar is plenty.

I buy individually packaged prunes to have on hand when I'm traveling.

I have to get my Fiber in every day, so I carry my 1/2 cup of 100% bran Cereal with me when I don't have time to eat it before I leave the house in the morning.

That just sounds good to eat anytime. I dont think I can take that on the road though sadly. I am so picky that I wont let food like that sit in my car for hours. I know how does my husband deal with such a picky person?

All the ideas are great!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
