I'm planning ahead for the post op clear liquid phase, and since for many of us broth is one of the few items we'll be allowed to have I thought I find out what the best tasting ones are. From what I understand, most of us are stuck on Clear Liquids for anywhere from 2-3days to 2-3 weeks post op, and I know I'll be sick of broth probably after a day, LOL :cursing:

I've listed all the brands I could think of, be they liquid or powdered. And I'm just going to assume that they'll be the low sodium variety, cause who need the saltier water-retaining stuff post op anyways?

Also, if you have any suggestions on how to make the broth taste better, please post.

I actually did strained Progresso chicken noodle Soup after a couple weeks of plain old Swanson low sodium broth. I strained all of the noodles, veggies and meat out and drank the liquid. I got the idea from someone here...the broth is much more satisfying that way than with just straight broth (it tastes better and satisfies hunger better). DH would just open another can and add my noodles and meat to it so there was no waste. They have low sodium versions too.

I did the same as Jodi, tho I wasn't on clear liquids. I just needed something different. What I did tho was strain the broth and give all the goodies to my 2 1/2 yr old in a bowl. She loved it! And like Jodi, no waste! Perfect!

Tho, if you have a Trader Joe's in your area, they have a new line of broth. Comes in small boxes and 12 packets to a box. It's not powder and it's not liquid, per se. It's more of a thick sauce. They have veggie, chicken and beef. The stuff tastes so good! Like real beef stew broth. I've been having fun adding it to stews and such and the flavor is so enhanced, it's great. What would have been good before with another broth, is just that much better with this stuff.

Best wishes with your process!

I'm going to revolt you all - a spoonful of Vegemite in hot Water, lol! there's another Aussie classic called bonox that is beef broth.< /p>

But I only had to do 1 day clears, although I think I had strained chicken noodle Soup a few times. Who woulda thought that the noodles out of chicken noodle soup could be soooooo tempting?

I'll be darned if I can think of the name of it, because it's a Mexican brand, and down in south Texas we have a lot of that, but they actually make a Tomato bouillon and a shrimp bouillon that was to die for. I got tired of the ckicken and beef reall quick! I still use the shrimp flavor as a base for seafood recipes. It's awesome.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
