Good morning all, about to get ready for my appointment. My surgical consult is in a few hours. I have done a lot of stuff (see my sig) and I'm very hopeful that the doc says "time to submit all this to insurance". Hopefully no delays or extra things I have to do first. I WILL UPDATE this afternoon, good or bad.

WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

All is well, about a week is expected to get my docs together and submitted to insurance. Nothing extra, my diet is good. No pre-op liquids, nothing but a big fat green light. Now comes the insurance waiting game, the surgery schedule is fairly clear so I'd be looking at about two weeks following insurance approval. :bored:

 Just got a call from my insurance company, apparently I have a care advisor:confused: She just informed me that I am approved to join the band. It's late in the day so I'll hopefully get my surgery date tomorrow but the big hurdle is jumped and I'm very happy.

So, I got my surgery date today

I am officially a new member of the Lucky Losers for March 09.

I have 30 days until my surgery and no longer have to worry about "maintaining my weight" for 40BMI.

No more excuses, no more delay, no reason to wait. The pre-op diet starts for me today. I don't have one prescribed because I lost enough from the time of my nutritionist appointment before I saw the surgeon. So I will impose my own. I'm hitting the Protein shakes from here on out, cutting out the future slider foods and making friends with the treadmill. I vow right here and now, (mark my words and I will keep this thread updated) I will lose another 15 pounds prior to my surgery date. By the time I'm restricted to liquids post diet I plan to have my metabolism firing on all cylinders and take full advantage of the restricted calories while I'm in surgery recovery mode. I'm taking before pictures tomorrow for future use.

Congratulations . . . you are off to a great start. There is no time like the present to get the ball rolling and I like that you are doing the self imposed pre-op diet. This is just going to get you that much closer to success faster. Too many people opt for a month of "last suppers" and gain right before surgery.

Welcome in advance to the land of banding :0) It has its ups and downs, but I can say in my case it was the best decision I ever made. I wish you all the success in the world.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
