Why!!!!

Can someone tell me why it is that they dont want you to drink 30 minutes before you eat and 30 minutes after you eat. I understand why nothing to drink 30 minutes after but why before?

The theory is that drinking before a meal can take up space in your pouch. When you eat, you will fill up faster but may not stay satisfied after the liquid leaves the pouch. But I have seen in fluro how quickly liquids move out of the pouch and just don't see how this makes sense.

Drinking too soon after a meal apparently will flush the food out of the pouch leaving you hungry sooner but if that is true then that would mean that when you drink 30 minutes later you are flushing the food out then.

I have tried it both ways and did not notice a difference in appetite or weight loss. Although if I drink too soon after a meal I sometimes slime or PB--so I drink right up to my meal but wait 30 minutes after to have a drink.

My doctor wants us to drink right up to the point we start eating. Their reasoning is that the Water makes you fuller and you consume less food.

My doctor does not allow us to drink, while we are consuming ffod. And we cannot drink after a meal...we have to wait at least 60 minutes.

It is interesting the variances between doctor's and their instructions.

Dana:

I think it's because it makes your pouch more slippery if you drink 1/2 hour before eating. So, once you eat the first bite or two might slide through instead of sitting around to give you that satisfied sensation.

I don't have that much of an issue with the drinking during the year, except when it is summer. I get extremely thirsty in the summer because I'm more active.

Good luck. I hope you shrink to love your band like I do.
