Why are you eating oatmeal and bread? ?? You are never supposed to eat those things with the band. Im surprised you have not stretched the thing out by now and if you keep going on like this you can do irreparable damage.

Didnt you have to take a phsycological test before you got this band? You sound so ungrateful. I cant imagine going through all this trouble to have this surgery and refusing to excersize or even walk for 30 minutes a day.

If i was denied and i came in here and saw your comments, I would be furious! Thier are so many people who want this band so bad and get denied or dont have the insurance but YOU were lucky enough to get it and your just throwing it away by being defiant and eating whatever you want to anyway. You need to stop complaining and change your course of action. why dont you try 5daypouchtest.com - it is a 5 day plan to get you back on track again. You dont need to have stretched your pouch to go on it - its also designed for ppl like you who have gone off track to get started fresh and new.

One more thing i need to add - many ppl are suggesting to you to get another fill but all the fills in the world are not going to help you if you dont stop eating oatmeal, breads and pizza! You probably already have stretched the pouch above your band and a fill wont help you much with a stretched pouch. you need to change your eating behaviours and shrink that pouch back down before you go get another fill.

eating oatmeal/bread/pizza might be restricted foods for you - but not many here. in fact quiet a FEW eat oatmeal daily (me - can't stand it), however i eat whole grain bread regularly.

the OP should try the pouch test - i did it and it was a great way to get back on track after the holidays; but i'm not sure a heavy hand telling her what she shouldn't be eating when it may not be a dietary restriction is the best approach here in MO.

i was denied insurance approval and went self pay - not angry in the least w/the OP. a meeting w/a dietitian, regular appts w/her doctor, local support groups, LBT would however be worthwhile.

Everyone gave great suggestions.

I think all of us plateau at one time or another. I certainly did but was still able to get all the weight off. I think the key is - when something is no longer working for you than you have to make a change to get moving again. Your current diet and activity level are allowing you to maintain your weight. If you want to lose again, you have to make a change in diet or activity.

Some people can lose the weight with just eating less of what they ate before. For most of us however, Proteins, fruits, veggies have to be the staple of our diet and carbs should only be occasional in order to keep losing. Your three meals a day that you gave for an example are heavily carb-based. If you do eat carbs, try to limit quantity and have whole grains where possible.

Tracking what you are eating on thedailyplate or fitday websites are a potential start. Upping your exercise helps. Establishing how many calories you are taking in on average and either raising them or lowering them also help your body to get moving again.

I think the trick to steady weight loss, at least for me, was to recognize plateaus and to keep making modifications until the weight start going again. Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
