So I accidentally got "No Added Sugar" popsicles instead of sugar free. They are the Edys fruit ones and have 2g of sugar is this going to be ok or should I go ahead and get a new box of popsicles?

Are they part of your post op diet? My hubby had gotten me the wrong ones too, and I ate them anyway. Me personally, I didn't eat as many as I thought I would. I didn't feel good and they got old after a while, lol.

In my opinion, a little sugar (in moderation) is a whole lot better for you than all that aspartame or splenda will ever be.... I DO NOT do any "sugar or fat free" foods, except a little Cystal Light... I'm not going through all of this to get fit and healthy only to give my body up to those questionable substances.. It might mean it will take a little longer to get to my goal, but I'm fine with that.... I'm doing great so far with 76 pounds gone in 5 months... I'm not changing things unless they quit working.. I think the most important thing here is to find out what works for you and keep doing it... Good luck on your journey.... Julie

I'm eating those same popsicles right now. I personally think it's fine and I talked to the nurse who runs the bariatric program at the hospital where I had my surgery and she said something like staying under 10g of sugar for band patients was fine. I don't know if every surgeon/program says that though.

Don't feel too bad. 2g of sugar isn't bad. I had 10g today. I can't seem to get shakes down yet. The only thing that goes down well is crystal light and chicken broth. I've gotten maybe a 4th of shake down in the past 4 days. Needless to say, I'm weak. It's hard to stay active, when I don't have any energy. This is the first day I was able to get dress and go for walk. I just went around the block 1 time and felt really faint. I remember when I felt faint at the gym, my trainer would make me drink gatorade. So, I got a small bottle and drank half of it today. I don't feel bad at all and actually feel more awake. I'm still going to try to get these shakes down, but I will have it on hand if I ever feel faint again.

Minnah -

Im no expert, and I've only been banded 5 days, but it sounds to me like you really need to try and get some Protein in you! There are other supplements out there other than the shakes. I think you should get some and see if you can get something in you with some protein.

Hope you feel better.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
