Congrats Tink! We are preggo twins. I just got a BFP this morning (which gives me a March due date too) and I am excited beyond belief.

I am also a little scared of miscarriage (which is the downside of knowing this early) but I just have to hope everything will be okay. We went through a lot to get to this point, so I'm VERY protective of this pregnancy already.

Good luck Dewl! Your time is coming soon just keep up the good work (in bed-LOL)!

My son is nearly 3 weeks old and I got my lap band refilled last Friday. I was over tight and could not hold down any fluids all weekend. I went back on monday and got the fill removed, but in the mean time I developed mastitis.

I have a high fever and sore boobs :)

My doctor thinks it was my dehydration that caused or contributed to the mastitis. He said if you can't drink 3 litres of Water a day, you can';t maintain breastfeeding.

So just word of advice for you all, be careful. I feel like absolute death:thumbdown:

I'm a lot scared of a miscarriage. I'm off of work for the summer, so I'm really taking it easy and trying like hell to keep the baby safe inside and growing.

Cherry,

I am so sorry to hear of your mastitis.. I know thats so painful.. keep nursing it will help clear it up.

I am due in october with my second and I am nervous about getting a fill and BF as well.. I got the band while still BF my 1st and it was difficult to keep the calories up in the beginning. (your not susposed to dip below 1200) then she just slowly weaned.. which was fine because she was over 1.. but now with the new little one I want to make sure I can BF her solely.. so I am nervous.. I want to make sure I have a good milk supply, but I also am anxious to get going again with this band!

I pray you feel better soon.. are you still BF ? keep me posted on how your doing and any tips with how to make it all work together!

congrats Tink and Kissmygrits! Ill pray your babies are healthy and strong.. the first little while is nerve racking.. but it gets easier.. remember most all miscarriages are because of genetic abnormalities and not what the mom does or does not do.. so just eat healthy, drink lots of Water, nap when you can.. and most of all relax.. the body is an amazing thing!

Dewl hang in there! both times I got preggo was when I stopped counting and trying.. 16 months it took for both! funny how that happens! people make it look so easy! just have fun and it will come

Thanks so much Shrink me. we seem to be doing better. The antibiotics have dropped my fever and my boob seems to be less red. Funny thing is Calvin still feeds well off both sides, it just feels like he is stabbing me with razor blades when he does it

Drinking lots of Water is the most important thing for me to feel better, I am still eating less, but drinking lots of fluids and I seem to be on the mend. I think if I had my time again I would have waited a couple of months until I got my band filled. I was still trying to establish my milk when i got mine filled and I think it was a big mistake.

Having mastitis made me teary and also made me feel like I let down my family. I have a 3 year old who definately copped my grumpiness, poor thing

Anyway, thanks for your kind words:smile:

Well I am glad you are feeling better.. and thanks for the tip about waiting.. I think you are right.. its good to establish the milk supply first before looking at getting fills. hang in there and its good to hear you are still BF so many people get scared away by stuff like this.. so you are definately a strong woman for sticking with it!

I also just noticed you are from Perth.. my Hubby and I are thinking of going to a school there with Youth with A Mission.. are you familiar with them? its definately a few more years off..but its a definate possibility.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
