Banded for 1 week

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I had my surgery last Monday 1/19. I have to say it has been more painful then what I expected but I think it will be worth it. I don't have any complications that I know of just a little pain. I was operated by Dr Looser and he has been great. I had an issue loosing my 10% his group requires but I did it, plus a few extra pounds:thumbup:. Since the band I have lost 8 pounds for a total of 25 pounds! I am on a complete liquid diet and have been starving the last 2 days I can't wait to start on mushie foods! So I hope to meet some people to help me through this and I will help anyone I can. I have been reading the post for some help and support through this but this is my first post...figured it was time to say HI !

Congratulations on being banded! When does your surgeon let you start mushies? My first mushy meal was a scrambled egg. I can still remember how wonderful it tasted.

It looks good now, but if you look it is just over 2 lbs per week average. So...if your weight doesn't fall off real rapidly, don't get discouraged. I see so many people complaining when they lose 2 lbs per week, but it adds up really fast. You are off to a good start, and just wait, you will be eating mushies before you know it!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
