Has anybody used Dr. Frank Veninga of Carrollton Texas?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I was just wondering if anybody has used Dr. Frank Veninga of Carrollton, Texas as their surgeon? I am scheduled to meet him this week for my surgery consultation. I just wanted any feedback if anyone has been to him. Thanks!:(

Shelley,

Good luck and congrats on your decision to get healthier. I used Dr Nicholson in Plano but I have heard that Dr. Veniga is good. I used to work with a girl that used him and she was very happy. Feel free to message me if I can help since we are both metroplexers. I was banded on 12-11-08 and just had my first fill.

Thanks! I just wanted some feedback on him. I chose him because of his location, but I want to make sure that I am not compromising care for convenience! Congratulations to you! You are newly banded and on your way to being happy and healthy! I am hoping to schedule my surgery for late February/early March. Thanks again!

Everything went great! I had my surgey on 2/25/09 with no complications. Dr. Veninga's office is great to work with. I had my first fill yesterday and am ready to start losing again. I lost 17 pounds preop/postop, then stalled out for the last 4 weeks. Having the fill should get me back on the road to losing!

I am so glad for you. My surgery is set for next Friday with Dr. Castro. I read many good things about him and I'll meet him Wednesday. I am sooo nervous/excited.

Hi! I'm getting ready to have the "sleeve" in august by Dr. Veninga. How was your surgery and did Dr. Veninga do a good job. Where there any complications and how do you feel today? Did the surgery take long? Please tell me any thing to help ease my mind that I am doing the right thing.

Thanks!

I think you will like Dr. Veninga. He is an excellent surgeon. I am almost 1 1/2 years out from my lapband surgery. His office is very friendly. He is a bit quirky, but overall very good. I wish you the best of luck with your sleeve!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
