Is there a such thing as too many fills?

Recommended Posts

Since my surgery, Oct 29, 2008, I have been adamant about getting my fills until I reach my sweet spot. I am very fearful that I may be setting myself up for failure. I have a 10cc band and three months out, I am at 5.5c (only 4.5cc) to go...... OH BOY! I feel restriction but lately I have been finding ways to eat around the band and of course not eat correctly. I am nervous cause I go to get another fill on tomorrow. I am quite sure I will receive another .5cc or maybe 1.0cc..... I just never know!

Am I over-reacting or should I be concerned???

JMHO...the band won't help if you're "eating around it" so no matter how tight, until you nip that in the bud, it's not going to help you. Not that I know it all! LOL far from it. But if you are already admittedly eating around the band, what good will more saline in the plastic do you? You need to work on the gray matter between your ears! :( Once you get that under control, see where you're at.

I agree entirely. There is no amount of fill that will fix what's causing you to want to eat this way. You will simply keep eating around the band, or more precisely, sooner or later you will reach a fill level that will have you not even being able to swallow saliva and then you'll have to unfilled.

Fill up on the right foods first. That helps a lot. Say yes, I'll eat those Cookies, but eat a cup of salad first. Or ean an apple before your meal, eat lots of veges WITH you meal. All those stupid tactics that never worked pre band actually work well for me now with a band.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
