deenie01 0 Posted January 26, 2009 I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way or has posted this same question but what the heck. I weigh my food, I barley eat when I do eat and I eat healthy plus I exercise and I was banded early December and have lost only 10lbs. That just seems really low to me especially with me working out. Now when I say work out I mean just 30 min. of cardio a few days a week. Please anyone out there who has been in this situation and could help shed some light on my oh so dark cloud pleeeeeeeeeeez I would be really grateful. Have a great week! I know it sounds crazy, but maybe you're not eating enough. I don't think you are still in the healing phase right now, so you should be eating somewhat normally. If you are barely eating or NOT eating, you shut down your metabolism, which then makes the body horde your calories. Try upping the amount of food you eat and see if the scale doesn't move. Still eat healthy, obviously, but eat three meals a day, somewhat normal-sized meals.
Jachut 487 Posted January 26, 2009 OK, 10lb since December is great. This is no magic fix. It takes a long time to lose fat. What do you want to do - lose fat slowly and surely or lose a whole lot of your lean body tissue and a ton of Water just so the figures sound more impressive? I'm sure you know the right answer, so stop being so hard on yourself. the scale is moving in the right direction. Secondly, you are making a great start at your fitness regime. Good for you! But over time, you will build up to more, becuase when it comes to weight loss and building muscle, 30 minutes a couple of times a week is NOT a lot of exercise. Its not OMG I lost 10lb in one week stuff. But that's OK!!!!! That's more than OK! You need to build up slowy to the point where you can do more, where an hour of cardio and strenght trainign in a day does not exhaust you to the point where you cant move for the rest of the week and where you can do that nearly every day and it just feels normal to you. That takes time. So again, dont be so hard on yourself. You will get there, you've made a fabulous start, just keep plugging away. Unfortunately true weight loss is not a fast and spectacular business, its slow and steady wins the race. I agree too, you need to eat well to lose weight, it seems to make no logical sense but eating hardly anything doesnt usually pay dividends.
crzytchr 3 Posted January 26, 2009 I agree with Beth. If you are weighing your food and making healthy choices, please journal your food on dailyplate or fitday.com to see the calories you are consuming in a day. It is possible you are starving your body and it is holding on to every thing you have. I always try to stay between 1200-1500 each day. Sometimes I only get 1000, but most days I get my calories in. But...still 10 lbs in the past 6 weeks isn't bad, especiallly if you haven't had a fill. Honestly, though if you aren't consuming enough food yet, you probably don't need one yet.
