Too much vomiting. What is going on with me?

Recommended Posts

I know people complain of PBing and vomiting after surgery, but I am two years out and still doing it all the time. There are some days when I will throw up ten or more times. My doctor did a test and said I have not slipped. But, how can I live like this? Am I the only one?

Lap Band Problems

It sounds like you are too tight. How many fills and cc's do you have? Talk to your doctor about this - because it is not normal and you are not getting proper nutrition. Also, make sure you are eating the right foods and chewing but two years out you probably know that.

Did you have the band drained because of the vomiting? Did your doctor do a barium swallow test after it was drained? If so, what did it show? It's possible you might need to have this band removed or replaced with a new band. Another possible test would be an endoscopy so that they could see right down your esophagus and into the band to see what is going on. Insist on having this problems solved - you do not need to live with this. It is unacceptable. Your surgeon should be concerned. If not, find another doctor.

Some insurances will pay for a second opinion. Find out if yours does. And if so, get one. Even if it doesn't- find a way to pay for it - it is that important. Try to go to a center for excellence where they have done many, many bandings. Go online to find such places near you. You are jeopardizing your health with so much vomiting. In the meantime, try to drink Protein Drinks and other healthy liquids - creamy Soups, etc.. Good luck.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
