Bonita 0 Posted January 25, 2009 Hello, I was banded by Dr Franco Favretti on the 10th of January in Italy. I am so glad I choose him. The service in the hospital in Italy was excellent. NO problem at all with languages barries, as nurses are so kind and they really try hard to their best to speak English. He knows his job very well.
MacMadame 81 Posted January 25, 2009 Welcome to LapBandTalk! I gather you aren't from Italy. What made you decide to go there for your surgery?
Bonita 0 Posted January 25, 2009 I did a lot of research about it, and I was very happy with him. As he was the second Dr to use the Lap Band and also he was the creator of a technique. And I am so glad I did, because I had a problem that was notice while in surgery.
MacMadame 81 Posted January 26, 2009 I was just wondering if you lived in Europe so it was close or if you came all the way from the US just to use this doc. I have a sleeve and I was really lucky. One of the pioneers of the sleeve is right in my backyard!
Bonita 0 Posted January 26, 2009 Hi MacMadame, I live in London. But even if I were in US I will still come all the way. I am so happy with his team.

Nods20 1 Posted July 14, 2021 Hi I'm so glad to have found your stories as I went to speak to Dr Franco Favretti 2 days ago and he has suggested that I start the procedure so that I can have lapband surgery. I'm very nervous about this but I know that it is for my health. I live in Italy close to where he has a medical office. Any advise would be appreciated. Hop_Scotch 1,632 Posted July 14, 2021 Hello and welcome. The thread you have found is quite old, more than 10 years old, it is unlikely that any of those who posted in the thread are still around. Is lap band still popular in Italy? It's popularity has substantially reduced in some countries due to various medical issues some people have experienced with bands. Peope are having the bands removed and are having gastric bypasses or sleeves. Not everyone has issues, but it is something you may want to consider and you may want to ask the doctor how many of his patients have had the band removed in recent years and/or patients success rate in achieving weight loss long term. I don't know your current BMI, but have you considered a surgical option instead of a band?
