Anyone banded at Temple Hosiptal in Phila?

Recommended Posts

I am having my surgery on 2/5 and was wondering if anyone had there’s done by Dr Patel? I have started my liquid diet yesterday so far it has not been that bad. But I keep telling myself it will be all worth it. I would like to have some advise on staying on the liquids fro the next 10 days

Hi laohann...being banded on 1/30 at Abington Lansdale Hospital, unfortunatley their program is closing in April, so I will have follow-up care and fills at Temple Jeanes Hospital. Met Dr Patel, Dr Grand and Dawn at a public information seminar last week and really feel comfortable with them and their program. I have 5 days left on the liquid diet, and have had good and not so good times. Had a headache (carb withdrawal) for the first few days, and am more tired and less tolerant than usual, but am not very hungry. Using powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury powder, Muscle Milk Lite Protein drinks, and just went to buy Trader Joe's low carb, high Protein, low sodium Soups yesterday for lunches. The good news is that my blood sugars are much lower and I am down almost 13 pounds already...which is a great start !

Good luck and keep in touch !

Temple Jeans is where I am having my surgery. I love the people in Dr patels office and they have been very supportive. I have not attended the support meeting yet, but I plan on going Tues. I am also having the headaches and I am so tired. I cheated today by eating 2 slices of cheese. Now I feel guilty & I am hoping that this is not going to happen again. It might e easier once the work week stars and I am busy. Maybe we will run into each other at the meetings.

Let's keep in touch & Good luck to you also

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
