Hey Debbie, I too got banded Wed, lol. And home on Thurs @ noon. Yeah, these gas bubbles are a killer. I feel them mainly in the front of my chest. I'm walking also & doing what I'm supposed to. I just hope these gas pains disipate! lol Glad you had a good night sleep:) ~Lori

Just banded on Tuesday, June 9th. Surgery time was 4pm and I was home and in my bed before 9pm. Sore from gas and port site. I have to say I felt better yesterday, Wednesday, June 10th. then I do today Thursday, June 11th. Gas pains are now across the shoulder blades but also feel something in the front top of my neck. Could the gas bubble have moved again??

I am a bit hungry today. Had some broth, Jello and Water but have just about had enough of that!!

Tomorrow starts my full liquids! I am half tempted to strat them now!! I was thinking about having one of my EAS Protein Drinks but am afraid that doing this a day early may cause me a problem!!

Any suggestions please feel free to e mail me!!

Thanks

Dot

Hi there! I was banded May 29, 2009. My Dr let me begin my EAS shakes on Day 2. I had no problems with them at all. I know some people have problems with milk based Protein shakes afterwards. They said if I did to try Isopure which is juice based I think. (from GNC)

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!

Have you tried any gas-x strips for the gas? I used them and had no problem with gas or gas pains...

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
