Gummie vitamins vs chewables

Recommended Posts

I am taking the Disney Princess gummy vitamins. They taste really good and my doctor said they were fine. She even takes them! I know she isn't banded but I have had no problems with getting them stuck.

Take a look at Bariatric Advantage, They have multiple Flavors, in terms of Calcium they have them in crystal form and you can mix them like crystal light, they have an unflavored one which you can mix with your juice, yogurt, etc. Take a look I know it has helped alot of people when texture and taste becomes an issue. Heres the Link.

I bought the Disney Princess gummy vitamins last night and they are YUMMY! After this last fill, I am also having a hard time taking regular Vitamins and my calcium citrate. Do you take just the 2 or do you do 4?

One a Day gummies - which you actually take 2, so they lie. Yummy

Viactiv - chocolate or Carmel, I have both, 2 a day. Yummy! These actually curb my "candy cravings" when I get them. Which is very rare anymore

Fiber Choice chewable Fiber tabs - 2 a day

When I have restriction I crush my remaining pills - they are getting less and less all the time. But, right now, I have NO restriction, so I can swallow them without an issue.

(Diabetic meds and Antidepressant - follow dr. carefully if you have to crush an antidepressant, it is bad for some and okay with others.)

Does anyone take Calcium gummies? I just bought some children's calcium gummies from Target, and they tasted pretty good. I take about 6 a day. They aren't as sweet as the calcium chews. I don't like sweet stuff anymore, so I don't take the chews. I also found an adult calcium Gummy on vitacost where I would only have to take 4 a day. I will be buying those this week.

The Bariatric Advantage Calcium is nasty! The lemon one starts out good (kinda like a starburst) but then it gets chalky, which you wouldn't expect from a chew. Yuck.

Celebrate and Bariatric Advantage chewable Multivitamins are great--no chalkiness. Can't say the same for their chewable calcium; it's like eating crunchy dust, and gives me the shivers. But Viactiv is very good. Even BETTER, though, are Calcet calcium chews. They come in lemon and (new) chocolate, and are unbelievable.

I take Vitamin capsules (powder in a Gelatin capsule) from my surgeon's office. I prefer Bariatric Advantage, but if I get them from my doctor, I can use my flexible spending account for reimbursement. The caps are HUGE, but they dissolve easily, so by the time they're working their way through my band, they are no longer intact. No problems at ALL. (I have had problems with tablets/pills getting stuck---my only "stuck" incident involved a pill. NOT FUN.)

Because gummies can't really be chewed thoroughly, and don't dissolve as rapidly as a cap, I don't think I'd use them. Really, being stuck with something that conforms to the stoma shape and size is pretty miserable.

I dont like the Gummy Vitamins, bought a tub and am stuck with it. I just really dont care for suppliments that mimic kiddie candy.< /p>

I am currently using Bariatric Advantage chewable multi and Calcium. As soon as those are used up, I am going to switch to Bloomin Nutritions chewable prenatal Vitamins. I ordered a tub of those and they are great. They are a soft chewable cube like a chewable calcium, but they dont try to mimic kiddie candy. They have a very sophisticated taste (citrus ginger), which I prefer.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?
