goals along the way

Recommended Posts

At the risk of sounding like a little girl, I sit here this morning happy as can be over hitting two of my goals, and really close to one.

Last week, I was able to put my original wedding ring on for the first time in years.

I'm wearing size 38 jeans (no stretch :tt2:) and I'm so close to getting out of the obese category. I hope to be in size 34 and a normal BMI for my daughter's wedding in spring of 10.

Congrats!! Sometimes its not the scales numbers that make us the happiest, but us starting to participate in our lives again!

Wow, this really hit home for me. I could not agree more. The numbers on the scale are nice but the big payoff is when you realize you are living again, not hiding. By hiding I mean either emotionally or physically. You are going to have a blast at the wedding!!!

Congrats!! Sometimes its not the scales numbers that make us the happiest, but us starting to participate in our lives again!

And being around for it. I totally forgot that my doctor cut my BP medicine in half and it remains normal, I hope to be off totally in Feb. I'm 9 pounds away from calling my sleep doctor and I'm expecting to be told me sleep apnea is gone. I was 250lb when diagnosed, so I figured I would wait till 225 to get retested. (My wife says my snoring has stopped)

Oh, yea, 6 points from halfway! I expect the hardest pounds to be going from 201-199

Definitely congrats are in order. Great work.

Nothing wrong with the "little goals." They are the things that keep up going to the big ones. We do it one step, one day at a time.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
