I'llsucceed 1 Posted August 5, 2005 Well some say your not truely a bandster until you feel the punch of a PB. Count me as official! About 3 weeks ago I had my 1st. Thank goodness I was with my mom who knew about the surgery. Dry chicken was the culprit. I made myself throw-up & it took 45 mins of slime & pain & 3 throw ups to go away. The second was minor just about a week later & lasted only 10 mins. I simply ate too fast. But last nite was the whopper of all PBs. Infact when I compair the last two they don't even count. It was over an hour long & was HORRIBLE chest pain. Crying, drippy nose, huge pain in gut & chest & I was sooo scared. I had ate the toppings to pizza about 4 slices. The nite before I ate 2 slices no problem. Just the top-no bread. Well day old pizza must be a different beast. I will never eat it again. I made myself throw up to try & release the pressure & it helped but barely. Than I began to throw up all on my one. Very hard & fast. It was actually violent. I tried calling my Doctor & spoke w/an assitant. I could barely talk to her & she really couldn't help, all she said was wait it out & she was so sorry I had to go through this. Also if it continues for another 2 hours go to the hospital. I knew there wasn't anything she could do. The slimes were horrible & many & I was so tired at this point. Than I threw-up again! This time I think everything came up & out & the pressure on my chest was finally gone. Today my gut & chest & weirdly my side on the right are very very very bruised feeling. I have been staying home all day & barley doing anything. Yes I am sticking to liquids. My throat is sooo sore. The doctors office called to check up on me- how cool is that!!! They are so wonderful. I feel blessed to have gone to them. Well the only bright side is maybe I can break this weight plateau I've been at forever. I just wish it wasn't this way. I have only 1cc in by the way. I usually never feel alot of restriction. Just sometimes in the morning & once in awhile some days in the afternoons. Isn't that weird?? I hope tomorrow I don't feel this soreness. Well I guess I am no longer a PB virgin;0)

DevilMayKare 1 Posted August 6, 2005 Yeah, the chest pain really is something, isn't it? Heartburn x 1,000. I wasn't prepared for how that would feel either. Glad you're feeling better!

doublestarrgirl 0 Posted August 6, 2005 What does pb stand for?? I know what it means for sure after reading this...so sorry fro you. But have been wondering the term for it?
I'llsucceed 1 Posted August 6, 2005 What does pb stand for?? I know what it means for sure after reading this...so sorry fro you. But have been wondering the term for it? Pb means productive Burp. Which I think doesn't describe nor come close to what you go through. Its when things get stuck & have no way to go up or down for a period of time. When I went through the 1st one & than a week later the 2nd I thought well--"Ok so this hurts & its a discomfort but I got through it & can live through another if I had too." Well I was sorely mistaken! That last one I had on Thursday is still causing my gut & side to hurt this morning which is Saturday. I truely though I was going to have to go to the hospital. Now all I can think is did I do some damage to myself.:0( The assitant at the office thinks not because I can keep food(mushie)down & she says that when banded- throwing up gets a whole new meaning to your body. I will always get a flu shot from here on out if I am able too.

Road Queen 0 Posted August 7, 2005 Christina, I had a couple of little pb's before and then yesterday (Friday) I had the mother PB (like yours) after a fill. I think we need to give them different names - baby pb's and Monster PB's or something. My dr is working out of town for 5 day although I did call him this morning. He gave me his out of town number to contact him - thank goodness. Since he is a fairly new band surgeon, I am his first patient to report this Monster PB thing. I PBd last night and had alot of acid reflux through the night - first time ever. Now I know what acid reflus is. This morning I had trouble with Water but beef broth was okay. I did manage to keep down enough water this afternoon to get my pills down but it was uncomfortable. I had a Protein Shake a little bit ago and that was fine. So the weird thing is, it seems like I am only having alot of pain with water. Have you experienced that? Since I can get fluids down, I don't think I need an unfill but am wondering if the water thing ever happens to anybody else.
Janieh123 0 Posted August 7, 2005 I am glad everything turned out. I however last week on August 3 was not so lucky. I had the same thing happen to me but ended up in ER and they had to unfill me to get it to go away. It was soooooo painful I feel what your words in your message. I guess we all have to learn the hard way one way or another.
