I too did ice on the tummy, heat on the shoulder/back, felt a little weird to be 2 temps at the same time, but it did the job. My doc didn't allow Jello post-op only pre.

I was banded Jan 09, and ditto to the heat/cold after surgery. I brought way too much to the hospital, and only really used the chapstick, loose clothes and pillow. I went to the hospital w/o a bra and didn't wear one for 5+ days after surgery (I went back to work after 1.5 weeks, so could take my time wearing "real" clothes.). Crocks were my staple for walking the night of surgery in the hospital and getting around after that.
