Well, I was hoping that this board would be a little more 'happening', but I guess I can get some dialogue rolling! I am a 32yo mom of three, scheduled to get banded on 1/29! I am on day 7 of the preop diet and it's not bad! (and I've lost 14 lbs, so that is incentive!!)

I am excited that we are at the age that we can still 'start over'! This band will absolutely change my life.

Let me know how much you are loving your band!

Hi,

Great job on the preop diet. Getting my band was the best thing I ever did for myself, it's giving me my life back. Good luck to you.

It works if you work it! I heard a story this morning from someone who's daughter had the surgery over a year ago and hadn't lost anything. That just tells me that they are expecting the band to do all the work for them and it just doesn't work that way.

Use it as a tool and it will help but you still have to do most of the work yourself!

Hey kristilaw!! I told you I don't come on here much... today's my first time since April 08 when I found out I was pregnant. I'm here searching for answers and advice, I think I might have an overfill from 3/6 if I'm reading right... guess I'll be going back soon for a slight unfill. I'm sick constantly and the weightloss is not happening, but I'm hopeful! Looks like you're doing great! Everything going ok for you?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
