To make a long story short, I got my second fill and couldn't keep much down. So, went for an unfill Friday, but he couldn't access the port so told me to do another week on liquids. Over the weekend the restriction lessened until yesterday there wasn't much left. I also hadn't had any coffee since Friday, but had been drinking grande skinny lattes most days up until then. So, today, I was tired and decided to get a latte and it went down fine, but went to eat a carb control yogurt as the first part of my lunch and I started gurgling and burping, then in 3 spurts it all came up! So, I'm wondering if it was the coffee...I know that coffee can irritate the stomach, but can it make you get stuck more easily? Just a thought...

It doesn't do that to me at all, but it may bother you for whatever reason! I'd be more prone to think that it was the heat in the coffee, however, since it didn't bother you before your second fill. liquid (hot or cold, caffeinated or not) should go through fine, as long as it isn't carbonated. If it doesn't, you're too tight. Maybe over the weekend you were more relaxed or something.

Wow, I cannot live with out coffee. I have at least 20 ounces in the morning before I start the commute to work. Hopefully, your doctor can give you a slight unfill.

Good luck.

If it doesn't get any better, I guess I'm going to have to get him to do an unfill under xray. I have to go to the hospital he works with for that and it won't be free like regular fills, but will be worth it if I keep throwing up. I barely made it through my work out because I was so tired.

I am so sorry your going through this. I have read some of your other posts and I know it has not been easy.

Take care.

Thanks for the kind words. I think that it is definitely the coffee. Didn't have any today and I felt fine! I'm going to have to see if my surgeon agrees, but until them I'm not going to drink any!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
