I had my port replaced to a low profile port after my Tummy Tuck. I have my old one and it has more than one nick in it. They said it is common to have nicks because they are going in blind. But I was lucky enough to not have a leak.....good luck on your replacement! Did you happen to ask for a low profile port?

I don't believe a bandster can actually damage it (unless you have a habit of stabbing yourself in the stomach). Either it was defective to begin with or it was damaged in the fill process (most likely cause). Like Boo Boo said they are generally filling blind using the palpitation method.

Wow I no longer feel alone. The same thing happened to me . I had been having problems since October 2009 and finally on December 21, 2009 my doctor let me know that at some time he punctured the tubing. I am so confused , hurt. I am waiting to see if my insurance will pay for the revision surgery but even then I don't know how I will come up with the deductible and copay(5500 total).

What kind of problems were you having butterfly? And how did they diagnose the leak?

I'm sorry you are going through this.

I'm sorry but that is total BS that you will have to pay for revision surgery since the surgeon admitted that he punctured the tubing.. HE should be paying for the entire revision as you did NOTHING wrong and the tubing wasn't defective... you need to talk to your surgeon about him paying for it...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
