Have a date for plastic surgery

Actually I'm managing the summer heat better than I ever have, Brad! And I can wear little spaghetti strap tops and cut-off jeans where in the past I've usually worn huge t-shirts and three-quarter length pants.

I'm also wearing white tops for the first time in years (always wore black previously). AND I've been going to the public pool - my previous house, before we moved a year ago, had a pool and it used to be the only place I'd be seen in a swimwuit.

I am a little shocked at all the things I used to NOT do because of my weight, but didn't realise that I was doing. I always thought I had enough of a good body image to carry my weight off, and I never felt like I wasn't attractive or sexy even at my highest weight. But now, I realise I DID in fact modify my life so as not to 'stand out' and that I'm not doing that anymore.

It's funny how our mentality shifts, and we 'hide' ourselves, without even realising we're doing it.

I am so excited for you to already be doing the PS! That is really amazing to be at goal and with a great body shape under a year. You've done a great job!

This is sooo cool! I'm really happy for you Lellow! Sounds like it might be quite an ordeal.

I think what you said above is so true. I love to swim and haven't been in years. This past summer, I took DD to the HS pool for "Mommy and Me" swim lessons and really had to work hard to "get over myself" to do this. I had already lost a little weight in the insurance program to get surgery but still was really embarrassed. BUT I was doing this for my DD not for me so had to "cowgirl up" and I had a lot of fun. It was a 2 week class and she was having so much fun, I signed us up for another 2 weeks. I won't be at goal this summer but I'm already looking forward to getting in the pool again! She'll be doing lessons on her own this summer but I plan on taking her in the evenings for free swim times too. I didn't do that AT ALL last summer. NO WAY!!!

Best wishes on your upcoming surgery!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
