mountainmomma 0 Posted January 21, 2009 Like the others my port is directly behind the big incision. I did have some pain under my left bottom rib but that is not where the port is. I asked my Dr when I went in for my 2 week visit post op. he would not give me a fill due to the fact that it was not healed enough. it is tender and prob will be for a while. I have to really push to feel it but I also have a fatty belly.
TQUAD64 9 Posted January 21, 2009 Well, my port is located to the far left of my stomach above the belly button by 2 to 3 inches. I don't even go touching that area. When I shower, I just let the Water and soap glide over that stomach area. I know I am silly!
als74 1 Posted January 21, 2009 I have to really push to feel it but I also have a fatty belly. Ok, I laughed after reading your last line. Take this as funny, but my first thought was a sarcastic- "No kidding, a fatty belly? None of the rest of us have that problem..." LOL. I have to push hard to feel mine too. I feels like a nickle sized "scar tissue" area. Watch me go to my first fill in a couple weeks and find out that's not my port at all!!! I am watching my fatty belly getting less fatty and more droopy. My fat rolls aren't as hard or big as they used to be, so it is transferring from fatty to flappy:lol:

Jachut 487 Posted January 22, 2009 I was always more pear shaped and could feel my port from the word go. Nowadays it actually sticks out, you can see it.
Annie0341 0 Posted January 22, 2009 A low profile port is a smaller version of the Lapband brand port. My surgeon used it saying I had a "thin abdominal wall", and no, I did not pay her more for that comment
lacasst 1 Posted January 22, 2009 Mine is on the left side below the bra line & above the belly button line.I was scared to feel it at first too.Now that I have lost some weight I can defnitely feel it more easily.I too heard that it can "stick" out when you lose a considerable amount of weight. But it cant stick out as much as my big gut from before! LOL  Anyway my surgeon found it no problem for my first fill and I try not to worry to much about it........It's our friend!!

laurigee 545 Posted January 23, 2009 I could feel mine right from the beginning. Now that I have lost weight it sticks out a lot. Actually if I wear a tight fitting shirt you can actually see it.
pjd3253 0 Posted January 23, 2009 I am 6 1/2 months out - my port is so close under my skin that I can feel the whole thing - it is literally right under my skin - I did not have much fat in that area on my left side - I am thinking about having the incision recut and the port pushed down because it sticks up like a goose egg. Sometimes when I eat more than I should it gets sore there not sure why
pjd3253 0 Posted January 23, 2009 me too - I love the band except for that and it really bugs me
IWannaBeSkinny 0 Posted January 24, 2009 now that I am almost 2 weeks post op I have been "feeling around" I am pretty sure that I can feel it now. It is basically RIGHT under my incision. I was thinking it wouldnt be right there. I can feel it pretty easy, so I am HOPING that it isnt going to be sticking out one day :scared2:
jazie 0 Posted January 24, 2009 My port flipped but I didn't know it until I went in for my 3rd fill. The first two went fine. We are still not sure why it happened. My dr has done over 1000 bands, I was the first to flip. So it is not a common thing. I can feel my port and it doesn't feel like it is flat, but I have never had a problem since, so it must be in position. jazie
