bigray 0 Posted January 21, 2009 My wife is scheduled for lap band on 6 Feb. Was wondering about diet menu's and frequency of preparing meals, Protein Drinks and everything else. I am reading the Dr's directions and took time off work for two weeks following her surgery to help out with everything.
Donna113 2 Posted January 21, 2009 Wow. Unless your wife is already disabled, she shouldn't need a nursemaid after the surgery. In fact, the doctor wants his patients to be up and about to get the gas moving post surgery. I had my surgery on Wednesday and was back at work the following Monday. My husband took the day of surgery off so he could drive me to the hospital and stay stay at home with me for the remainder of the day but by the next day, I was perfectly fine. The first few days post surgery, she can only have liquids anyway so there's no cooking necessary.
L12 13 Posted January 21, 2009 I agree with Donna113; unless there are complications or additional difficulties expected, you shouldn't really need that two weeks off. Maybe just a couple of days if you have small children? It's sweet of you to do that though! Personally, the only time I needed any help was the day of surgery. My husband drove me home, got me some Water, and helped with my meds that night, but by the next day I was hobbling around able to do everything for myself. I was in some pain and was tired, but didn't need any assistance. As far as specific instructions for meals and drinks, whatever your wife's doctor has directed is the best to follow.
