Calorie count

Recommended Posts

Hi, I use fitday.com to figure out my calories, some people use sparkpeople.com and I know there is one called calorie king.

Great job on the weightloss by the way

Someone recently pointed me to myfitnesspal.com It is very similar to fitday.com but it seems to me, to be easier.

Congrats on getting this far without tracking your calories. I am impressed!

Hi Fran,

you know I decided to check that site you list above and I think I might switch! It will be hard as I have been using that site for a very long time, but change is good! Thank you for posting this

I also use fitday.com. If this is something you are going to eat often, then I suggest looking up each of the things you make it out of and calculate how much it has in all. Create this under custom foods. I have done that for my Starbucks mocha, the quiche I cook, and any other foods that I eat on a regular basis.

For example, for my quiche I added up all the ingredients for the whole pan: 8 eggs, 1/4c onions, 4 oz cheese, 8 oz of ham, 1/2 c flour and 1 c milk. It adds up to a lot of calories, but then I divide it by 8 because I cut it into 8 pieces and each piece has 240 calories.

I use dailyplate.com.... Very similar to what the other sites mentioned are. You can customize dishes, enter servings, etc. Also you can put in a calorie goal and it tracks your % of carbs/protein/fat etc..... It is part of the livestrong.com site (lance armstrong) and has a forum and other stuff too....

I use it b/c it was the first one I went on... beside calorie king.

VERY ENLIGHTENING... I never knew that things I thought were ok or good really just aren't when you figure the little amount of food we eat at one time. Just my opinion--but we need to make sure what we eat worth every bite. For myself-it has been a wake up on really eating more naturally and better.

Good luck!

There are free programs, but i looked and like calorieking.com

They track Protein, Fiber, carbs, etc. in each food. You can also get a mineral and Vitamin report on the foods you're eating. I really like it a lot. Plus you can track all your exercise and everything in it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
