Surgery January 26, 2009

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I am so excited about my upcoming surgery. I am now on my 10 day liquid diet and I am doing fine but every once in a while I feel if I could just lick a spicey taco or something salty I would be okay. But then I stand up and feel the pain in my knees, think about the cpap machine I use, think about the high blood pressure I have and say to myself, this diet won't be forever but losing weigh will and I can survive this.

Any support is appreciated.

Thanks, Deb

Hey you have taken a big step and I wish you all the success in the world. For most of us it's not what we eat it's how much. This surgery helps control the size of food so you can control your size  I have made taco's there are ways you can do that lo salt and lo fat or even ff. get yourself some healthy cookbooks even lap band cookbooks out there Good luck if you need any one to talk to just private message me.

Banded August 27, 2008 lost 68 lbs so far feeling great!!!

Banded in Pa

5cc's in my band

saw doc today no fill he said I am doing great! Very excited

Deb, I have surgery on the 27th and start my liquid diet tomorrow! You made me laugh about licking the taco! This will be very exciting! Keep up the optimism!

My surgery will follow yours by one day as I am scheduled for the 27th. I am so bored with the liquid diet I could scream though. Now I amuse myself by combining jell-o flavors to see what I end up with.

I hope all goes well with yours and that it is as life-altering as we need it to be. I hope to post an ad in one year that says "Used CPAP machine. No longer needed!!!!!"

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
