Now, when people say there is lots of gas, does that mean those sharp gas pains you get at times? Or like gas from you know...? =P

Mrose is right. Everyone handles post-surgery differently.

Feeling like I had been run over by a semi was the worst part for me. I could have delt with the gas and port pain much easier.

I had gas coming out all directions! I lived on extra strength gas-x for quite some time. Now the gas isn't nearly as bad, but I do have more then pre-surgery.

Hi Cherrygirl,

I am from Corona and I was banded on 9/29/08 by Dr. Krahn. He's great and his staff is awesome. I'm down 60 pounds so far (pre-op and post-op). The post op things that helped me the most were sugar-free chocolate pudding and sugar-free popsicle. Especially the diet soda popsicles (I could only find them at Stater Bros). Soft scrambled eggs also helped. Once your on regular food, I have found that foods cooked in the crockpot are much softer and I don't get "stuck" as often.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
