Banded This Morning!

Recommended Posts

All, I was banded this morning at the Prestonwood Surgery Center in Plano, TX by Dr. Victor Gonzalez (Great Facility and great surgical team). I am up, walking around and drinking sips of Water. I have a little pain, like a tightness in my chest, but very manageable. I am not feeling physical hunger, though I have a little bit of "head hunger". I am looking forward to my continuing journey and want to thank all the members on this board for the great advice and support on my pre-op diet (which I did not cheat on!) and look foraward to your support going forward.

Hang in there everyone, as somebody once said it is difficult right now, however "This too shall pass."

Congrats big08,

I am so happy for you. You have accomplished a great thing. Just imagine how much better your life is going to be and most iof all, how much better you will feel. I look forward to that as well, as my surgery is Friday. I am still kind of nervous and hoping my liver has shrunk enough. The pre op diet is horrible. I hope you continue with much success in the future. Again, congratulations.

Congrats on the life change!!! I got banded last week and am now on pureed food...the only hungry days I had was day 5 and 6. But I guess it all depends on what your doctor and dietitian recommend for you on your post-op diet. I am amazed reading the various differences given. But good luck!

I'm so glad you had a good experience. I'm getting banded at the same place Thursday morning (different doctor, though), and am starting to get a little freaked out! Maybe it's the loads of fun I've been having with the pre-op diet? Hhhmmm?

Anyway...your post made me feel better. Thanks.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
