Will I really feel it?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I am scheduled for my first fill next monday. I've healed well after the five weeks, I feel great. I am however able to eat just about anything in fairly large quanitites! I have had a couple of stuck experiences because I still need to learn to chew more and take smaller bites-old habits and all. I just want someone to tell me that after fills...will I actually feel like I am full so I will know to stop eating? Will I ever be happy with a 1/2 sandwich instead of a whole? I know I have gained back a few of the pounds lost since I've been able to eat again, dissapointing, and yet I do realize that I am still stuck in bandster hell. I am curious since like I said right now I can eat pretty well, don't get that "stop now fool" feeling that I so desperately want!!!:)

Thanks

I did not feel restriction after my first fill - which brought me to 4 ccs. I got my second fill on Friday and now have 6 ccs and I finally feel restriction. Even though I did not feel restriction before now, I would measure out my alloted amount of food and eat it and then stop. I would not be hungry but I wasn't full either. I will admit it was really hard to do, but I knew if I kept eating I would gain back weight. For me it became a psychological struggle telling myself that although I was hungry, I could not eat until my next meal. It really is harder than I thought it would be.

You should definately feel the difference. I can only speak from my own experience, however when I am full I start to get that uncomfortable feeling in my chest and I know its time to stop eating. If I haven't eaten slowly enough I get a real pain so I try to avoid that at all costs as it is not a nice feeling.

feeling full is not the same as it was pre band but you will recognise it.

Best of luck with your fill.

Sue

I got my first fill on the 15th and all went well. It was under fluro and as I drank the barium all he could put in that would allow the barium to go through well was 2cc.

I've heard some people say they got 4cc, .5cc, 1cc and so on the first time. Does it always vary that much? The doctor put in 3 cc at first and the restriction was unbearable with the barium! I guess its different with everyone?

Right now I am doing liquids and Protein shakes. Wednesday I start mushies. I hope it takes! If not, he said to come back to his office if I can still eat a whole plate of food. I shouldn't be able to eat a whole lean cuisine or prepared meal. Well see......

Good Luck!!!

I felt some retriction after my first fill, but not much. I really began feeling restriction after my 3rd and 4th fills. My seond one I felt nothing!! It all depends on the person in my opinion. Like someone else said, when you have restriction, you will know when to stop. It won't feel the same as before you were banded and it make take some time before you recognize the signals. I never feel full like before, I just eat till I am no longer hungry. The sensation that your pouch is getting filled will definitely be there...no mistaking that feeling. I usually get one big hiccup, that is my signal. If I eat beyond that point, something will definitely be getting stuck. I try to err on the side of caution and stop eating before I get the signal to insure that I won't get stuck but I sometimes still do. It will all start falling into place for you soon. best of luck!!

I never really felt like I was in Bandster Hell before my first fill. I'm not sure how much fill I had when banded, but must have had some. I got 3.5 cc on Jan 6 and could not eat hardly anything the first week. Now, I get hungry but a small amt does satisfy me for several hours. So, hopefully if your Dr. is good at giving fills, you should have the same result. I see so many saying they have no restriction with the first fill, but I don't think that is the way it's supposed to be!! Good luck!!

I didn't feel it with my first fill. You just can't eat big quantities. Stick the the half cup or whatever your doctor suggested. You don't need more than that.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
