I need Coffee!!

Great post. No bullshit, makes sense, perfectly logical. Love it!

it amazes me how many people panic over the most illogical ideas. And how many doctors spread them.

Like Luluc, those around me have a nicer day when I have my coffee! As my doc has no restrictions against it, I have been having it since day 1 post-op. I always drink it black, don't use it as a substitute for food, try to limit the caffeine quotient by having Decaf in the evenings, and don't count it in my Water calculations.

My doc is fine with coffee. I never had any restrictions regarding it. Personally, I have to have my coffee. I tend to have a hard time with bowel movements, and coffee keeps me "stimulated". I'd be in a bad way if I didn't have my coffee. I put vanilla slim fast in mine. I get the extra protien and nutrients, and no sugar. I limit myself to two cups. (that's all it takes....) I would say it acutally reduces my appetite. I haven't suffered any ill effects from it yet.

Well here's something to think about if you choose to limit your caffiene, which I did initally.

Look at tea. Green tea, white tea, etc. They are like wines, you can totally get engrossed with them and their flavors etc.

I do like coffee and have it most days. I go for quality over quantity, like with most things that go into my mouth these days. I French press my coffee now, well because I'm a snob, but it's also deliciousier.

You will find that there are many different answers to these types of questions.

Good luck.

Give me coffee or give me death. Seriously, you don't want to meet me in the morning, until I have my java. My doctor is clear that I drink coffee and there is no dicussion whether she thinks this is a good idea or not.

For me and everyone around me, it is a very good idea that I have coffee in the morning.

My doctors said no to coffee or any caffeine in the first 2 weeks only. After that they actually recommended coffee or a hot drink for when you start getting restriction & have trouble getting things down in the morning. I turned 40 in October & just drank my first cup of coffee about 2 months prior. Now I am addicted, but I only have about 2 cups each morning & sweeten it with artificial sweetener.

I was told coffee and tea are fine (but to choose Decaf over caffinated) and fat free, sugar free Creamers. Don't count them as your Water, and moderation is the key.

I drink coffee every day. In fact, after my surgery, the hospital brought me a cup as part of my clear liquid dinner. You have to be very cautious at coffee shops like Starbucks. Even the sugar free fat free stuff is loaded with calories. Check out the nutritional info for a place like that before going in so you know what to get and how that will impact your day.

Most of the fat-free sugar-free drinks at Starbucks get the majority of their calories from skim milk. If you are OK with the calories in a glass of skim milk, you'll be fine with the calories in a skinny latte or other similar drinks. I pretty much just like the "fancy" drinks made with flavors, milk, sweetener, etc., so I made sure to check on the nutritional value of the skinny versions! Starbucks has a great nutrition section on their website where you can modify each drink any way you want and see the value. Pretty cool if you like to plan ahead for your splurges like I do.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
